Your Brand is More than Your Logo

by Paige Logue, Project Assistant/Graphic Design

At Providence, we are proud to be a well-rounded marketing and public relations firm. You will often hear us say, “We do it all, we do it well.” – Our expertise stretches beyond the basic knowledge of how to effectively target audiences. We are here to tell you that your brand is more than your logo!

Let’s break it down and ask ourselves “What is a logo?”

A logo is a business’ identification. It is memorable, simple and represents a company. A logo helps others easily identify a product and distinguish it from the rest.

Now, let’s ask ourselves “What is a brand?”

A brand, on the other hand, is the EMOTION felt when a person interacts with a company or product. Your brand is what gives consumers that warm, fuzzy feeling whenever they see your logo on a billboard as they speed down the highway!

Your logo helps your brand be easily identified. It is easy to have a great logo but if your brand identity isn’t as impressive, your logo may get lost.

Knowing what a logo elicits from a consumer and the value of your carefully-crafted brand is essential, especially when you decide you want to market and grow that brand.

An Example of a Good Logo and Memorable Branding:

American Red Cross Logo

The American Red Cross logo is one of my favorite examples. It is a memorable logo that is backed by an even more memorable brand! The red cross is very simple, yet it packs a big punch. Whenever you see this bold cross anywhere it elicits the feeling of safety. Even if you haven’t worked with the Red Cross, you know of the impact it has on people’s lives!

In summary,

Make sure your branding elicits the emotion you want from a consumer when they see your logo. If you feel like you already have your logo and branding established, I have a challenge for you. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • “Is my logo a direct reflection of my company?”
  • “Does my brand make people feel and think about my company the way I want them to?”

If you are unsure about your answers, it is a good idea to give Providence a call! We’re available to help you with your branding and marketing needs because we do it all and we do it well!
